סמינר קבוצת התיאוריה לאנרגיות גבוהות: Deconstructing E0 SCFT to Solve the Orbifold Paradox
Vadim Kaplunovsky, Texas University
I look at the twisted states of the T^6/Z_3 heterotic orbifold from the M theory point of view. In the 11D bulk, the 5D fixed planes carry the E0 superconformal theory, which is poorly understood. To understand this theory, I deconstruct its fifth dimension into a long quiver of strongly-interacting SU(2)'s. At one end of the quiver there are 3 quarks, and the other end -- 3 antiquarks. In the continuum limit, these anti/quarks live on the boundaries of the fifth dimension (which is inherited from the M-theory's 11th dimension).
In M theory terms, the heterotic twisted states are non-local mesons, comprised of a quark on one end of the x11, and antiquark at the other end, and a string of strongly interacting gluons spanning the whole x11 and connecting the quark to the antiquark.
