Blue-shifted Broad Absorption Lines (BALs) detected in quasar's spectra are indicative of outflows from Active Galactic Nuclei (AGNs).
In this talk I will present a model that can explain BALs of outflows of speeds up to thousands of kilometers per second, by the collision of AGN winds with galactic clouds.
Powerful enough winds can propagate to large distances where the clouds are found and break these clouds into cloudlets that will be accelerated by the wind and constitute the line absorbers seen as outflows along the line of sight.
